As restriction on movement continues in Ba Town, the floodwater levels are increasing.

Ba Town Council Acting CEO Vinal Prasad says main road towards the town, Elevuka Road and the road going towards Tavua are closed.

Meanwhile, movements in Ba, Rakiraki and Tavua towns have been restricted for tonight.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu says flood waters have started to enter shops in towns, and it is not safe for people to be moving around the three towns.

Driu says this is to ensure the safety of the infrastructure of the three towns and protect the properties from opportunists.

He says the main highway from Ba to Rakiraki is closed to all traffic.

Should anyone require assistance moving to higher ground, the Western Division Command and Coordination Centre can be contacted at 9905457.
