A Flood Warning is now in force for low-lying and flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of the Wainibuka River and Wainimala River.

The National Disaster Management Office is urging the residents living in these areas to exercise extreme caution and take necessary precautions.

According to the Nadi Weather Office, the water level at Nayavu station along the Wainibuka River currently stands at 7.26 meters which is 0.76 metres above the alert level and is continuing to rise.

The NDMO advises the public to ensure that they have essential supplies such as non-perishable foods, water, medication and first aid kits readily available in case of evacuation or emergencies.

They also urge people to stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary travel, especially in flood-prone areas and reach out to elderly neighbours, individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, and families with young children to ensure they have the necessary support and assistance.

They advise people to keep an eye on nearby water levels, rivers, and streams and be prepared to evacuate to higher ground if the need arises.

The NDMO says if the need to move arises, people must move while it is still daylight and contact the Fiji Police Force or the National Fire Authority (NFA)for assistance.

The high tide is at around 3pm.

A Heavy Rain Warning is in force for the whole of Viti Levu, the Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group.

A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

A strong wind warning remains in force for Southern Viti Levu from Coral Coast to Navua, Sigatoka to Korolevu, Coastal Rakiraki, Yasawa, Lau, Lomaiviti Groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says another active trough of low pressure associated with TD05F is expected to approach the group from today.

Isolated heavy falls could lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas.
