Flash flood advisory and heavy rain warning in place

A flash flood advisory has been issued for the low lying and flash flood prone areas in the greater Suva to Nausori corridor, Qauia to Navua along Queens Highway, interior of the Western Division - upper Nadi Catchment, greater Nausori and Rewa Delta area, the whole of Rewa Catchment from Waimanu, Waidina, Wainimala and Wainibuka sub catchment, most parts of Vanua Levu - Bua and Macuata, interior of Vaturova-Koroalau, the coastal areas of Natewa and western Tunuloa.

The Weather Office says a flash flood warning remains in force for the low lying areas in Lautoka, Nailaga Village, Nasivi, Qara Settlement, Yaqara, Nananu, Naseyani Village, low lying areas adjacent to and downstream of Rakiraki Town to Korovou along Kings Highway.

A trough of low pressure with the associated cloud and rain will affect the Fiji Group till later today.

Rainfall forecast ranges between 70 to 80mm for the next 24 hours for Bua, Macuata and Wailevu district.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the Fiji Group.

Expect some localised businesses to be affected, flash flooding, localised flooding of iris crossings and informal settlements and some disruption to traffic flow and poor visibility.
