A flash flood warning remains in force for flood prone areas, small streams and low lying crossings for Viti Levu and Vanua Levu while a heavy rain warning is in place for the whole of the Fiji Group.

A Flood Alert is also in force for low lying and flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Ba River, Nasivi River in Tavua, Nakauvadra River in Rakiraki and Nabukelevu in the upstream of Navua catchment, just below the confluence of Wainamoli creek and the main Navua River.

The Nadi Weather Office says due to the rising water levels in these rivers, coupled with the expected heavy rain coinciding with high tide, there is heightened potential for river flooding in these catchments.

They say an active trough of low pressure is affecting the Fiji Group.

This system is anticipated to produce occasional to periods of rain, heavy at times, and thunderstorms over most parts of the group today.

Rain should start to gradually ease from later tomorrow starting from the Western Division.

A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca, Northern Viti Levu from Tavua to Rakiraki, Lau and Lomaiviti Groups, Northern Bua and Macuata Province.

fijivillage News advises you to take all precautionary measures. If you are living in a flood prone area, do not leave things to the last minute and evacuate before the flood waters start rising.

Contact the Fiji Police Force or the National Fire Authority should you need assistance to move to higher ground. Information on designated Evacuation Centres can be accessible on the NDMO website on: www.ndmo.gov.fj
