First local bilingual film to be shown at Film Festival

The first local bilingual film will be shown during the Fiji Film Festival which is starting from tomorrow.

Written, directed and produced in the country, the film ‘Suraji’ (Empress Of The Sun) captures the transition from plantation life to freedom.

It also highlights the plight of plantation women.

The film which is 120 minutes long will feature in English and Fiji Hindi.
 
The Fiji Film Festival was officially launched at the Indian High Commission today.

Director Uni Studios, Fiji National University, Ravi Malik said a total of 35 locally made films had sent in their entries to be showed during the festival of which 27 have been selected.

More than 90 films from 39 different countries will be shown during the two week Film Festival show in Village 6 and 4 cinemas and FNU Ba, Lautoka and Nadi campuses.

The first film to be screened is a Hindi film ‘Kahani’ which will show tomorrow at 7pm at Village Six cinemas.
