For the first time, an iTaukei dictionary will now be accessed via mobile phones.
This was after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama launched the iVolavosa Online Application.
Bainimarama says the app will not only benefit iTaukei language speakers, but will allow fellow Fijians that speak other languages to better understand the complexity of the iTaukei language.
Fijian Linguist Doctor Apolonia Tamata says they have been working on the app from 2015 and from today it is available in android phones and within the next month it will be available for i-phones as well.
Tamata says the app has interesting content.
She says the advantage of the app is that information can be uploaded continuously so that the data is always current.
Tamata says the Ministry of Education is also including the iVolavosa into their curriculum.
Tamata says the total cost of the development of the app alone is about $135,000.
