The first batch of refunds to people who applied for the Lagilagi Housing Units has been approved by the Ministry of Housing.

A payment in excess of $66,000 has been processed to Fijians who applied for a refund of their hard-earned money paid to the People’s Community Network for Lagilagi Housing Units in Jittu Estate, Suva.

The Ministry is administering this initiative for over 500 applicants who lodged their applications requesting a refund and they will be receiving their refunds in the coming weeks.

Minister for Housing, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says people can still apply because they have extended the deadline.

One of the recipients, Tupou Malohi says he is glad to receive approval for his application and is looking forward to investing the money in a dairy shop to help his family.

Malohi says he is thankful to the Government for helping him and he will ensure to get his family back on their feet.

Another applicant, Nur Bi Aziz says she was earlier disappointed not to receive a unit as promised but is now thankful to the Government for making this reality possible.
