A family of six whose house got burnt this morning at Levuka Street in Samabula is thankful that no one lost their life.

The owner of the house, a former soccer referee Bobby Dave says he was asleep when the fire started.

Dave says he bought the house from a close relative and had invested a large sum of money in extending the house.

National Fire Authority Chief Officer Qionilau Moceitai says the fire fighters could not save anything as the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Moceitai says the officers who were at the scene at 9.15am managed to control the fire from spreading to other houses.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as investigations continue.
