Police say the man who was earlier taken in for questioning in relation to a separate political cybercrime investigation, is now possibly facing several counts of rape however he did not appear in court last Friday as the DPP’s Office wants more action to be taken.
The case file was expected to be submitted to the DPP’s Office today, and the man was released from custody last Friday.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the file is now with the Director CID in Suva.
Police had said on Friday morning that the man will appear in court on that day after he was charged with 5 counts of rape.
Meanwhile the man had alleged that he was paid by the National Federation Party and the suspended SODELPA for posting fake news on Facebook pages like Fiji Exposed Forum.
Although the man claims that cheque payments were made to him, Legend FM News understands there is still no documentary evidence of the alleged payments.
When we asked Police, they say the investigation is still underway into this case and no further comments will be made at this stage.
