Fiji’s exports to the US stood at $486.8 million in 2019 and it was an increase of 92% when compared to 2014.
The two-way trade between Fiji and the US last year was $658 million.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Trade, Faiyaz Koya while signing the USA-Fiji Trade and Investment Framework Agreement.
Koya says the signing marks an important milestone in the long-standing and multi-faceted partnership between Fiji and the United States adding the two countries enjoy strong bilateral trade and investment flows, with US being Fiji’s largest trading partner.
He adds it will provide a strategic framework and principles for dialogue on trade and investment issues, with an objective to increase trade and investment opportunities between Fiji and the US.
He adds it will be an avenue to strengthen cooperation, facilitate market access of goods, catalyze business to business linkages and strengthen the capacities in the areas of trade and investment.
Koya also highlighted that 96,968 visitors came from the US last year.
