Fijiana bounces back to beat Colombia 42-24

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team bounced back from their earlier heartbeaking loss to Great Britain to beat Colombia 42-24 in their Vancouver 7s pool match.

Fiji’s Reapi Uluinasau opened the scoring and ran in two converted tries in the 1st and 2nd minute of the game before Ilisapeci Delaiwau scored Fijiana’s third converted try to extend their lead to 21-0.

Colombia managed to score a converted try to Angela Azate before Ana Maria Naimasi extended their lead to 28-7 with a converted try heading into half time.

Colombia started the second half well and scored two consecutive tries through Laura Maejia and Yurian Galan in the 9th and 10th minute respectively.

Adi Vani Buleki grabbed another try to Fijiana in the 11th minute to further their lead to 35-19.

Colombia’s Leidy Garcia scored their fourth try before Mereadani Qoro scored the final try for Fijiana to give them their first win of the tournament.

Fijiana will take on New Zealand in their final pool match at 7.06am tomorrow.

The Women’s cup quarter finals will begin at 11.28am tomorrow, the cup semi finals will kick off at 9.04am on Monday and the cup final will be at 1.56pm on Monday.
