The Vodafone Fijiana XVs 118-0 win over Kazakhstan in the World Rugby WXV 3 tournament last weekend was a fitting farewell for their captain and number 8 Sereima Leweniqila who has decided to retire from international rugby.
While announcing her retirement, Leweniqila says she has so much peace being able to hand over the task to her teammates knowing that it’s in better hands and they are stars in the making.
Leweniqila acknowledged Head Coach Inoke Male for trusting her with the leadership role for the past few years that she has been with the team.
She says the team is still developing and they will get there someday and has asked the supporters to be patient with the team and support them throughout.
Head Coach Male acknowledged Leweniqila’s significant contribution to women’s rugby and praised her as a role model for young girls.
Fiji Rugby Interim Administrator Simione Valenitabua thanked Leweniqila for her service to the country and said she has been a very influential figure in Fiji Rugby.
Leweniqila made her debut for the Fijiana side in 2012 against New Zealand Samoa.
