It was a dismal start to the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team’s HSBC Madrid 7s campaign after they were thrashed 36-7 by a dominant and physical French side.
Lili Dezou opened the try scoring for France followed by Anne-Cécile Ciofani.
Kolora Lomani scored on debut leaving the scoreboard at 10-7 at half time with France in the lead.
It was one way traffic in the second half as Anne-Cécile Ciofani scored two more tries.
Shanon Izar and Alycia Chrystiaens scored a try each to seal the win for France.
The Fijiana will face Australia at 10:22pm tomorrow and will play Ireland at 1:05 on Sunday morning.
The women’s semi finals kick off at 8:05pm on Sunday, while the final will be played at 5:49am on Monday.
