Fijiana 7s knocked out of HK 7s after 33-7 loss to USA in Cup quarter final

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side has been knocked out of the main cup competition after losing 33-7 to the USA in the Cup quarter final match tonight.

Fiji had no answers to the USA’s explosive attacks even though they were locked at 7-all in the later stages of the first half.

USA scored the first try through Kristie Kirshie with a successful conversion before Fiji replied a minute later with a converted try to Ana Maria Naimasi to level the scores.

The USA Women scored a further two converted tries before halftime through Alev Kelter and Steph Rovetti to lead 21-7 as the game went into the break.

Ilona Maher and Kris Thomas scored a further two tries for the USA in the second spell with Kelter adding 1 conversion to give the Eagles the win.

The Women’s Cup semi finals will be at 4.54pm tomorrow and the women’s Cup Final will kick off at 10.13pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Cup quarter finals will start at 9.09 tonight with the USA taking on Ireland, France will play Spain at 9.35pm and South Africa will play Australia at 10.01pm.

The Men’s cup semi finals will be at 5.40pm tomorrow and the Men’s Cup Final will kick off at 10.53pm tomorrow.
