The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team has a chance to gain automatic qualification to the 2024 Olympic Games in France heading into this weekend’s Toulouse 7s.
The Fijiana 7s team is currently in 6th place with 62 points behind Ireland who has 64 points and will be looking to finish in the top 3 in this weekend’s tournament with hopes that Ireland does not make it past the cup quarter finals.
France who has gained automatic qualification since they are the host nation is currently in 4th place with 78 points which allows Ireland and Fiji to battle for the 5th place in the women’s World 7s series and gain qualification with only one tournament to go in the women’s 2022/2023 world 7s series.
With that being said, the Great Britain women’s 7s team is also providing the threat from the 7th place as they are just 2 points behind Fiji and hopes are high in the Fijiana camp that Great Britain does not get past the cup quarter final as well.
The Fijiana 7s team will play Spain at 8pm Friday in their first pool game, they will then take on Japan at 1.30am Saturday before playing Great Britain at 7.37pm Saturday.
The cup quarter finals will start at 1.26am Sunday, the cup semi finals will be at 7.44pm Sunday and the cup final will be at 3.26am next Monday.
