The Vodafone Fijiana 15s team put on a dominant performance decimating Tonga 48-3 in their opening game at the 2024 Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship in Brisbane.
The team made up of 21 Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua players easily cut up the Tongan defence running in eight tries.
Even though Tonga got on the board first in the 10th minute with a penalty to take the lead, the Fijiana quickly replied with a try to Sulita Waisega in the 11th minute, Vika Matarugu, Vani Arei, Adita Milinia and a second for Arei just before half time.
The Fijiana led 29-3 at half time.
Sulita Waisega opened the scoring in the second half getting her second, Atelaite Buna and Litia Marama sealed the deal in the second half.
The Fijiana will take on Papua New Guinea next Wednesday at 7.30pm.
The winner of the 2024 Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship automatically qualifies to the 2025 Women’s World Cup in England.
