A group of Fiji’s renowned local artists led by Vude King and Queen, Seru Serevi and Laisa Vulakoro, presented their i-reguregu to the family VITIFM’s iconic personality, Maikeli Radua, at their residence in Vesivesi Road in Kinoya.
Radua, who was widely respected in the Fijian music and broadcasting industry, tragically lost his life last Saturday afternoon in an accident at Ratu Dovi Road while returning from Nausori.
Along with Vulakoro, Serevi, the gathering saw the presence of other musicians such as Tom Mawi, Joseph Komai, Tibora Fiti, Thomas Naua, Isireli Gumatua, Georgina Ledua, Eta Gonerogo, Vetaia Seniniuleka, Susana Kawa, Inise Waqavonovono, and Jim Raiwalui.
The artists reflected on the invaluable contributions Radua made to their musical journey.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro, reminisced about the unwavering support Radua provided to Fijian musicians.
She shared how Radua had an extraordinary ability to connect with artists, not just as a master of ceremonies but also as a guiding presence before their songs were released.
Vulakoro says Radua was not just a personality, he was a bridge between artists and the people.
Radua’s passing leaves a significant void in the music and broadcasting industry, but his contributions and the memories he created with Fiji’s beloved musicians will live on.
Also presenting their reguregu last night was Voqa Ni Delai Dokidoki, who composed and sang a song for Radua called “Ko a Dau Rogoci” and their sister band, Leba Boi Yawa E Lomai Nasau.
Meanwhile, the traditional i-reguregu will begin today at Waikete Village in Tailevu.
Radua’s funeral service will be held at 10am Saturday at Waikete Village.
