Due to piracy, artists in Fiji get between $2000 to $3000 per album and sometimes even less than $500.

Managing Director of Procera Music Mohammed Akif has revealed this saying artists could get ten times more if it was not for piracy.

Akif says that the Procera Music Carnival is a platform to promote these local artists but one of the main challenges they face is piracy.

He says they have taken six people to task for piracy, and some of them have been fined up to $12,000.

27 artists have been confirmed to take part in the Procera Music Carnival which began yesterday.

The week long carnival will feature local artists like Vude Queen, Laisa Vulakoro, Ronald Jai, Sekope Raikoro, DJ Praneel, Waikoula kei Tavua and International artists like J.Hind and Shaxe Oriah.
