Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors utility forward Chris Minimbi believes the team will put on a strong performance in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge competition which kicks off this Friday.
The utility forward came through the High-Performance Unit’s Elite Player Pathway program and was also part of the Vodafone Fijian Under-20 team to the Junior World Championship in Argentina last year.
Minimbi says a lot of the players are in rugby academies and they have also played together before.
He says the game on Friday will be a huge step-up for a lot of the players and it is about attitude and how they can carry themselves on the field.
He adds that the players are excited to take part in this tournament especially with Tonga and Samoa who usually bring in their form of Pacific flair.
Minimbi says Japan is a very technical team and they will also be a strong opponent in this tournament.
The World Rugby Pacific Challenge competition will kick-off this Friday with the Junior Japan taking on Tonga A at 2.30pm and Fijian Warriors will face Samoa A at 5 pm.
Both matches will be held at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
