The Fijian Elections Office has today signed a contract with Datec, which will be the official supplier of the Election Result Management System software.
The software has been used in the 2014 elections but some enhancements have been made for the 2018 elections.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says the software will be able to print out results that have been recorded.
Saneem says on the night of the elections they will conduct a flush at 6pm to delete all data from the result management system and they will print names of polling venues with zeros on them to ensure there is no data present.
Saneem says the flush process will be done live on-air from the Result Management System on the Fijian Elections Office channels to ensure that the data entry system begins with zero data in the system.
He says the Elections Office ensures that there is utmost sensitivity around data and the Result Management System will be on a closed network system.
Saneem says they will ensure that there will be no Wifi systems in the facility, which will prevent the ability of any penetration or suspicious activities.
Saneem says an App that has been developed in-house will be generating results every 15 minutes and the second source of results will be on the Fijian Elections Office website which will be running live results.
He says the demonstration of the App will be available by the end of January 2018.
