The Fijian Elections Office confirms that they are still short of staff for the polling stations for the 2018 general elections.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says are yet to get applications for 62 polling stations.

Saneem says they will now evaluate and conduct direct recruitment in these areas.

He says they need approximately 17,000 staff for the elections.

Saneem says they are confident that they will be able to make arrangements to ensure that all polling venues are adequately staffed for the next election as there are contingencies in place.

Meanwhile, Saneem says that more than 1,000 people who had applied and attended the training have not been paid their training allowance as they cannot get their correct details like bank account numbers.

Saneem says these staff have until the 26th of this month.

Saneem also confirms that overseas voter registration has completed.
