The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have moved into their new home at the Legalega Industrial Area in Nadi.
The Fijian Drua Home Base which was opened by World Rugby Chairman Sir Bill Beaumont will house high performance and recreational facilities for athletes and team management, as well as cater for offices for the coaches, medical, analysis and welfare staff.
The total investment of the facility set-up is around $2 million, with investments largely thanks to the Club’s sponsors and stakeholders.
Beaumont says on behalf of World Rugby they are absolutely delighted to be a contributing factor to the Fijian Drua team.
He says he thinks it is important for them at World Rugby to come out and see, admire and respect Fijian Rugby.
Drua CEO Brian Thorburn says they needed a home base to launch the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s future Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaigns and this facility has what they need to do that.
He says they faced many challenges during their covid-impacted inaugural season this year.
Thorburn says they are delighted to finally be able to put roots down right here in Nadi and truly stay, train and play at home.
