The FijiFirst Party has now announced all their proposed candidates for the 2014 general election.
30 more proposed candidates were announced last night as the party’s General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum submitted the nominations to the Supervisor of Election, Mohammed Saneem.
The names announced include former Permanent Secretary for Education Brij Lal, former Commissioner Western Joeli Cawaki, former Commissioner Eastern Netani Rika, former Commissioner Central Laisenia Tuitubou, Special Administrator for Ba, Lautoka and Tavua Praveen Bala, former Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Pio Tikoduadua, former Director of the Media Industry Development Authority Matai Akauola, former military officer, parliamentarian and diplomat Jioje Konusi Konrote, lawyer Faiyaz Siddiq Koya and former deputy CEO for the iTaukei Affairs Board Apakuki Kurusiga.
Other proposed FijiFirst candidates include registered pharmacist Alvic Maharaj, human resources development specialist Akhtar Ali, community worker Viam Pillay, inland tour business operator Howard Politini, lawyer Ashneel Sudhakar, Turaga ni Koro and Mata ni Tikina Ilisoni Galala, high school teacher Mohammed Dean, businessman and former Nadi Mayor Sanjit Patel, registered surveyor Himaiyat Ali, advisory councilor and chairman of the Naitasiri District Council Vijay Nath, iTaukei Affairs Board member for 23 years Joape Nalatu, communications leader with the Seventh Day Adventist Church Savenaca Narube Vakaliwali, radio personality Veena Kumar Bhatnagar, Director of Malomalo Tikina Holdings Ltd. Ruveni Nadalo, former civil servant Luisa Waqanika, retired vice principal Jilila Nalibu Kumar, radio presenter Adi Laisa Balavu Tora, community worker Koleta Marama Sivivatu, former FICAC officer Balmindar Singh and former military officer Samuela Bainikalou Vunivalu.
With 31 days to go for the September 17th general elections, nominations for all elections candidates close at 12pm Monday.
Nomination forms accompanied by deposits of $1,000 for each party candidate and $1,000 for each independent candidate, have to be delivered to the Elections Office.
Independent candidates will also have to present a list of 1,000 supporters with their nomination forms.
If a candidate wishes to withdraw his or her nomination form, he or she can do so by providing a written notice to the Supervisor of Elections no later than 12pm next Tuesday.
