The collaborative effort between Australian and Fijian government continues to address concerns raised by Fijian workers under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.
Minister for Employment, Agni Deo Singh recently met relevant stakeholders during the Australia Fiji Business Council Forum to discuss issues of interest for Fiji.
Singh says the discussion included issues such as minimum working hours, pay parity, deductions, cost of living adjustment, recruitment process, worker referrals and temporary skill shortage visa.
He says Fiji continues to engage in bilateral discussions with Australia to ensure fair treatment, decent working conditions and adequate wages for Fijians.
He acknowledged Australian Minister for Defence Industry, Pat Conroy for his commitment and support towards maintaining a well-functioning labour export arrangement between Fiji and Australia under the Vuvale Partnership
