The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has won the Hong Kong 7s after defeating New Zealand 33-19 in the final.
This also means that coach, Ben Ryan has delivered two great back to back wins in this year’s series after winning the Las Vegas 7s in February.
Fiji scored a total of five tries - two tries from Savenaca Rawaca and one each from Jerry Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua and Apisai Domolailai - to outclass the All Blacks Sevens side in a memorable final last night
The national side executed their game plan well as they dominated the counter rucks and they were strong in attack and brutal in defence.
Coach Ben Ryan praised the players for their brilliant performance in the final.
Ryan saluted the players for improving in their defence which they were working on in the last two weeks.
Ryan also thanked the fans for their support to the team.
Meanwhile captain Osea Kolinisau dedicated their win to the former Telecom Fiji Warriors prop the late Iosefo Bele Tabalala and also the children who are celebrating Palm Sunday in Fiji.
Fiji started brightly with tries to Savenaca Rawaca and Jerry Tuwai to race to a 14‑0 lead.
Rawaca then intercepted a pass from Beauden Waaka to cross over for his second try.
This extended the lead to 21 0 before Beaudine Waaka scored in the corner at the break.
Jasa Veremalua scored Fiji’s first try in the second half before Apisai Domolailai extended the lead again to put the result beyond doubt with less than a minute to play.
In the third and fourth place play-off, South Africa beat Samoa 26-5 picking up 17 valuable points to maintain their place at the top of the overall series standings.
