New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has arrived in Fiji for his first official visit and has been traditionally the welcomed at the GPH earlier this evening.
Luxon was received by Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua at the Nausori Airport this afternoon.
He was also accorded a guard of honour at the Airport.
Luxon is expected to have his first formal talks with his counterpart, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
He had earlier said that Fiji is a critical partner for New Zealand, as they navigate the increasingly choppy geostrategic waters ahead.
He said the partnership between the two countries is broader than most New Zealanders are aware of, from close security cooperation to business links, and – of course – the shared love of rugby.
He added that Fiji is their biggest trading partner amongst Pacific islands countries and there is plenty of scope to leverage even more economic opportunities for Kiwi and Fijian businesses.
