Fiji will be sending twenty volunteer nurses to Tuvalu this year.
This was assured in an agreement signed by the Permanent Secretary for Employment, Salaseini Daunabuna and the Tuvalu High Commissioner to Fiji, Temate Melitiana yesterday.
This is the first time Fiji’s retired medical professionals are being engaged under the Volunteer Service Scheme.
The government has been mostly engaging retired teachers under the Scheme.
Retired teachers have been previously sent to Tuvalu, Marshall Islands and also Vanuatu.
