The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team will play New Zealand in the quarter-final of the Vancouver 7s after beating France 26-17 in their last pool match.
France scored the first try of the match to lead 7-0.
Napolioni Bolaca who has been having a great season leveled the scores for Fiji as he raced away for an individual try.
Jerry Tuwai scored Fiji’s second try after showing his trademark footwork to beat a couple of French defenders as Fiji led 12-7 at half-time.
Asaeli Tuivuaka scored Fiji’s third try to extend Fiji’s lead to 19-7.
Alasio Naduva got Fiji’s fourth try straight after the restart.
Sevuloni Mocenacagi was yellow carded for a high tackle which allowed France to score their second try to close the gap to 26-12.
Apenisa Cakaubalavu was also given a yellow card for a tackle that was deemed dangerous.
France scored the last try of the match.
Coach Gareth Baber says they knew France was going to be tough.

Looking at Fiji’s other results from today, the national side beat Wales 26-19 and then lost to Canada 21-26.
Fiji will now play New Zealand at 6.41am tomorrow.
In other quarter-finals, USA will meet South Africa at 6.19am, Australia will battle England at 7.03am while Canada will take on Spain at 7.25am tomorrow.
The Cup semifinals will start at 10.14am tomorrow and Cup final will kick off at 1.28pm tomorrow.
