75 countries with more than a thousand athletes are expected to be in the country in September as Fiji will host the first Commonwealth Qualifying Championships.
Weightlifting Fiji President Della Shaw says it is an exciting year for them, and they are already looking forward to hosting the Championships in September.
She says it is difficult for weightlifting to qualify because they need to be in the Top 13 if they don’t get wildcards.
Shaw says if athletes do not qualify through this championship, they will have to compete in a series of competitions to score points.
The Commonwealth Qualifying Championship will be held from the 16th to the 20th of September at the Vodafone Arena.
