Fiji through to the Cup Quarter-Final of LA 7s after beating France 33-28

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has confirmed their spot in the quarterfinals of the Los Angeles 7s after defeating France 33-28 in a thrilling encounter in their second pool match.

Jerry Tuwai, Meli Derenalagi, Waisea Nacuqu, Napolioni Bolaca, and Asaeli Tuivuaka scored a try each.

Fiji led 14-0 in the first few minutes of the first half but France came back with two tries to level the score at 14 all at the break.

Derenalagi, Bolaca and Tuivuaka’s try in the second half sealed the victory for Fiji.

Meanwhile, Fiji thrashed South Korea 45-7 in their first pool match.

In other results, Ireland defeated Canada 17-12, South Africa thrashed Kenya 31-5, Australia thumped Scotland 31-7, USA beat Samoa 19-17, New Zealand defeated Spain 21-7, England defeated Wales 31-14 while Argentina defeated South Korea 45-19.

Fiji’s last pool match is against Argentina at 1.05 pm today.

The Cup quarterfinals start at 5.43 am tomorrow while the Cup semifinals will start at 7.55 am tomorrow.

The Cup final of the Los Angeles 7s will kick off at 12.26 pm next tomorrow.
