Fiji, through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee, has officially submitted a bid to host the 2031 Pacific Games.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka made this announcement while officiating during the Fiji Sports Awards 2023 at the Vodafone Arena.
He says this is a bold step to the future to improve our sports infrastructure and promote inclusivity in sports.
He adds that he is confident that FASANOC's request will succeed in bringing this prestigious event to our shores.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his acknowledgement to FASANOC which is presenting Fiji's bid in Palau next month.
He says 2023 shows a full year of sporting activity, which included Fiji's participation in various tournaments and competitions, including the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands, the Rugby World Cup in France, the Netball World Cup in South Africa and several Oceania and World Championship competitions for athletics, swimming, weightlifting, including the World Cup qualification competitions for various sports.
