Fiji is committed to assisting its neighbouring island nations towards capacity-building of their human resources.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Employment Parveen Bala while signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the Government of  Tuvalu.

The purpose of the MOA signing is for the engagement Fijian Volunteer Teachers under the Fiji Volunteer Services.

Bala says Fiji has a long history of teacher training, and the establishment of a system of schools under the grant in aid scheme for more than a hundred years.

The Minister says it is only right, that many of our smaller island neighbours look towards Fiji when it comes to education, especially teacher training, and now for assistance through trained and experienced retired teachers.
