Fiji has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerate the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action at the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in New York, highlighting its progress in gender equality and women’s empowerment.
During a High-Level Interactive Dialogue and the presentation of Fiji's country statement, the Acting Director for the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection, Emily Kamoe-Veiqati emphasized Fiji’s achievements in inclusive education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and gender-responsive planning.
The Fiji delegation, alongside civil society organization (CSO) partners, participated in a traditional i-sevusevu and Tatau ceremony at the Permanent Mission of Fiji to the United Nations, strengthening regional collaboration in advancing gender equality.
Kamoe-Veiqati held bilateral discussions over the weekend with the President and CEO of Women Deliver Dr. Maliha Khan focusing on Fiji’s role in the upcoming Women Deliver 2026 Conference (WD2026).
Fiji concluded a successful week at CSW69, reinforcing its commitment through regional and global partnerships.
The delegation expressed gratitude to Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Filipo Tarakinikini and the team at the Permanent Mission of Fiji for their support.
Acknowledging the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, other Pacific member states and CSOs as Fiji remains steadfast in advancing the Beijing Platform for Action and empowering women and girls across the region.
