Fiji will face Australia in the first semi final of the LA 7s later today, after beating USA 28-12 in the Cup quarter final.

Fiji led 21-7 at half time with Kaminieli Rasaku scoring the first try and Joseva Talacolo scoring a double in the first half.

The hosts responded in the second half with two tries from Steve Tomasin and Maka Unufe, but it was not enough for the USA team after Vuiviawa Naduvalo scored Fiji’s third try to win the game.

Meanwhile, Australia bundled out Kenya in the first quarter final by 40-14, Samoa defeated Argentina 24-19 in extra time in the third quarter final while New Zealand beat Ireland 29-14.

The Australian 7s team just needs to win a medal to win the HSBC 7s Series. If they miss out, then Fiji has a chance to win the series.

The Cup semis will begin at 9.09am and the Cup final will start at 12.28pm today.
