The Governor-General of Australia David Hurley and his wife, Linda Hurley were accorded a traditional welcome ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel this morning.
The traditional welcome ceremony was conducted by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs and the vanua of Natau-vakarua from Kalokolevu Village.
Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Governor-General Hurley thanked the Fijian people for according them a traditional welcome.
He says the visit represents the meeting of two friends, partners, and vuvale's.
The Governor-General says Fiji is a beautiful country, filled with warm and kind-hearted people and they are looking forward to hearing the stories from the people of Fiji during their visit.
Attending the welcoming ceremony were President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, former President Jioji Konrote, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his wife, Mary Bainimarama, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and his wife, the Chief Justice Kamal Kumar, Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, members of the Cabinet and foreign dignitaries.
