Fiji the only country in the world with a $7 note in circulation

Minister for Economy and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khiayum revealed that 600,000 $7 notes and around 700,000 50cent coins are in circulation.

In his ministerial speech Sayed-Khaiyum says that the cost of printing 2 million commemorative notes was paid by the Reserve Bank of Fiji and not by the government and tax payers.

He adds that this is the only $7 bank note in circulation in the world.

Meanwhile, Opposition MP Viliame Gavoka says that the concern is that we appear to be glorifying the leadership more than the sport of rugby.
