Team Fiji men’s soccer side was hammered 8-0 by Korea Republic in their first ever game at the Summer Olympics.

Fiji played well in the first half as the score line stood at 1-0 at half time, however it all went downhill for Fiji in the second half.

Korea Republic started with a high tempo game as they tested Fiji goalkeeper, Simione Tamanisau twice in the first five minutes.

Tamanisau made four good saves before he was finally beaten after the Fijian defenders mistimed a cross and the Koreans took advantage of that.

Korea Republic was awarded a penalty in the 38th minute but their attempt was off the post.

In the second half the experience and the fitness level of the Koreans showed as they made light work of Fiji.
