Fiji expected to produce more hardwood

Fiji is expected to produce more hardwood to manufacture outdoor furniture and boat decks as Future Forests Fiji has planted sixteen hectares of Teak in the last three months.
The company commenced planting teak trees on land leased from the mataqali Navunivesi, koro Burenitu in Tikina Nalawa in Ra.
The company has undertaken a survey, mapping and lease application of a further 140 hectares in the landowning units Mataqali Nakorotubu and Makodragu, Koro Nausori and also in Tikina Nalawa.
Planting in these areas is to commence in April and is to continue in the next planting season in the final quarter of this year.
Future Forests Fiji who are the operators of first teak plantation is also the latest company to be listed on the South Pacific Stock Exchange.
