Fiji and the U.S fought two world wars side by side and continue to serve as brothers on UN peacekeeping missions.
This has been highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka during a meeting with U.S Senator Kevin Cramer in Washington where he also acknowledged the United States for the support provided in addressing Fiji’s key national priorities across areas such as climate adaptation, defence and security, education, and sustainable economic growth.
Rabuka says the meeting highlighted an important aspect of their bilateral relationship, defence and security cooperation.
He says Fiji and the U.S share longstanding ties that extend beyond the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971.
Senator Cramer of North Dakota acknowledged the Prime Minister for the productive meeting, expressing optimism for more collaboration between the two nations.
