Fiji TV’s existing television broadcast license extended to 12 years

Fiji Television Limited’s television broadcast license has been extended for 12 years.

Attorney General and Minister for Communications, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says with the license comes certain conditions that Fiji TV will need to meet.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this is in relation to switching over from analog to digital TV broadcasting.

He also says another condition they have is that more local shows must be shown.

CEO of Fijian Holdings Limited Nouzab Fareed which is the majority shareholder of Fiji TV has welcomed the 12 year licence extension.

Fareed also says they are ready to switch from analog to digital TV broadcast.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Television license was going to expire tomorrow.
