Crest Chicken Fiji Secondary Schools Hockey under 19 girls defending champion Nadi Sangam started their campaign on a high note defeating Saint Joseph’s 1, 3-0 in Pool A of the Fiji Secondary Schools Hockey competition that started today.
Team Manager, Akashni Chandra says the players were reminded that they need to be playing their hearts out and be good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Chandra says hockey is anyone’s game and all they need to do is to be a good sportsman.
She says coming into this tournament, time management was a challenge for them given the time frame they had for training as most of the players are in Year 12 and were focusing on their exams.
The team manager says despite the challenge, it did not deter the players’ spirits and also did not spoil their focus.
Chandra says they aim to defend their title this year.
In other matches; U16 Pool A, Saint Joseph’s 1 vs Jasper Williams High School have nil all.
And U16 boys, Marist Brothers High School beats Saint Thomas High School 1-0.
