The Fiji Police Force is expected to receive another 100 motorcycles this month after 20 police officers from the Southern Division graduated as qualified riders.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says having multi-skilled officers who can operate the motorcycles will not only improve service delivery but ensure visibility.

This is in line with Qiliho’s vision to increase the mobility and efficiency of the institution, as officers are being trained to operate the motorcycles.

Qiliho says they can't afford to be stuck in traffic when attending to urgent reports and by training officers from various units their work will not be limited to attending to traffic reports as was the norm.

He adds that now they have a large pool of qualified riders to choose from.

The six new motorcycles which have been deployed in the Western Division was part of the 20 bikes donated by the Hong Kong based SGV group last month.
