Fiji Police Force and FRCS officers undergo 2 day workshop that focuses on Preservation of Crime Scenes

The Fiji Police Force and Fiji Revenue and Customs Service officers are undergoing a two day workshop focusing on the Preservation of Crime Scenes especially in relation to drug cases.

Speaking at the opening Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu reminded the officers’ of the importance of preserving evidence at a crime scene.

He says officers approach and knowledge of the processes to follow and maintain at any crime scene is critical if those involved are to be successfully prosecuted.

The Acting Commissioner adds maintaining the integrity of crime scene, proper analysis and labelling of evidence is important in the ongoing fight against drugs.

Officers from Customs, Police, Biosecurity Authority of Fiji and the Republic of Fiji Navy are attending the workshop in a bid to harmonise the operations of their respective institutions and understand their legal authority and the requirements needed to preserve the scene of a crime during a drug raid.

The workshop ends today.
