People in Auckland’s Central Business District will today get a taste of Fijian culture as the Fiji Police Band is expected to perform in Ellerslie this morning.

Elleslie Town which is 10 kilometers from central Auckland, is the host town for Fiji having adopted the nation as part of the Rugby World Cup program.

From 9am until 10 this morning, the Police Band will be performing as part of a series of concerts in the town.

Tourism Fiji said this is part of bringing the “Bula Spirit” to New Zealand.

The 40 strong marching band will also be part of the part of the pre match activities leading up to the Fiji vs Samoa game this weekend.

Meanwhile, a traditional Lali drum is being beaten twice daily in Ellerslie Town Square at 9.00am and 12.00pm throughout the RWC 2011 while a range of Fiji oriented events are being staged by the Ellerslie Business Association in conjunction with the Auckland Fijian community.
