Fiji Pine Trust calls on public and landowners to cease lighting fires near pine plantations

The Fiji Pine Trust is calling on landowners and the general public to cease lighting fires near pine plantations.

This plea follows a series of complaints from pine owners and surrounding pine belt residents.

Fiji Pine Trust spokesperson, Salesi Vulakoro is urging people living along pine belt areas in the Western division to stop burning vegetation during this dry season.

Vulakoro says cane farmers who reside near pine forests should contact them and they will make the necessary arrangements for cane to be disposed off without the risk of damaging neighbouring pine plantations.
