The Fiji Pearls squad preparing for the upcoming South Pacific Games in Honiara next month took their preparation to another level as the squad members engaged in a team bonding session where they went through a traditional mat weaving lesson with the Soqosoqo Vakamarama ni Yasana o Kadavu organisation.
A post on the Netball Fiji official Facebook page showed the players learning and observing the art of mat weaving with the help of the ladies from the organisation.
Netball Fiji says this unique experience not only allowed the team to observe but also helped the players acquire valuable skills that resonate with the principles of playing netball.
They say with dedicated practice, the players honed their weaving skills, drawing parallels between the precision required in netball and the artistry of traditional mat weaving.
Netball Fiji acknowledges the Soqosoqo Vakamarama ni Yasana O Kadavu for organising this activity.
The South Pacific Games is set to kick off on the 19th of November while the Fiji Pearls side will depart for the Solomon Islands on the 25th of next month.
