A unique platform where businesses in Fiji and New Caledonia can trade with each other has been launched by the Minister for Commerce and Trade Faiyaz Koya.

The Fiji-New Caledonia eTrade Expo is a business-business platform targeted to both buyers and sellers in both countries.

Koya says the Fijian Government is not letting the border closures hamper the determination that people have in terms of making Fiji the ideal investment destination.

He says during this period Fiji has expedited and prioritised reforms so that it continues to be a competitive and preferred trade and investment destination.

He adds that he is proud to say that Fiji is one of the pioneering Pacific nations engaged in such rigorous reforms to realign and move towards digitalisation.

French Embassy Charge d’ Affaires, Rene Consolo says the contacts initiated by the two countries will pave the way for greater connections, trade and transactions once the pandemic is over.

Consolo says France welcomes the initiatives of the Government of New Caledonia in building stronger economic ties within its neighbourhood.

Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer Craig Strong says a lot of potential exists for businesses in the New Caledonia and Fiji to trade with each other.

The CEO adds that the expo provides Fijian businesses with an opportunity to connect with new markets and build strategic relations benefiting both countries.
