The Fiji Museum Board of Trustees, in collaboration with iTaukei Affairs, is focusing on a major project to restructure the National Museum.
Fiji Museum says this effort aims to include areas of expertise that are currently missing but are essential for improving the museum’s services.
In the 2019 Strategic Plan, the museum established a vision for excellence, outlining several key goals to guide its future.
Fiji Museum says the first step towards achieving this was a complete renovation of all the galleries where experts in various fields were brought in to reimagine the galleries, making them more engaging for visitors.
They further say this includes creating captivating stories, showcasing unique artefacts, incorporating contemporary designs and using modern technology to enhance the experience.
Fiji Museum adds though the pandemic caused delays, the final gallery space was opened to the public early this year and since then, visitor feedback has been positive, indicating that the investment of time and resources was well worth it.
