Fiji Men’s team makes unbeaten run to semi finals after 5-3 win over PNG in final pool match

Team Fiji Men’s hockey side is through to the semi finals after beating PNG 5-3 in their final pool match of the 2023 Pacific Games this morning.

It was an intense and fast-paced game but the Fijian side held on to come out victorious.

The win has seen them top their pool with 15 points after securing 5 wins.

They will be featuring in the semi finals at 3.20pm today with their opponent yet to be confirmed.

The Men’s final will be at 2.10pm tomorrow.

The Women’s team is also unbeaten in their pool matches so far with 4 wins and they will play Solomon Islands in their final match this hour.

The Women’s semi final will be at 5pm today and the final will kick off at 1.20pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile in other sports this morning, the Fiji mixed touch rugby team defeated Samoa 9-7 in their first match, Fiji’s Don Younger won the Men’s Triathlon B Final for Oceania ranking while Fiji Women’s triathlon team comprising of Kattie Pattie, Jonalese Vatubua and Charis Kwong finished 5th, 7th and 8th respectively in the final.

The Fiji Men’s volleyball side went down to Australia by 2 sets to nil last night. Fiji is still in 5th place in the overall Pacific Games medal tally with 14 gold, 20 silver and 29 bronze.

New Caledonia is leading with 70 gold, 44 silver and 45 bronze while Australia is in second place with 42 gold, 20 silver and 8 bronze.
