The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side secured a 47-5 win over Niue in their first 2023 Oceania 7s Rugby Championship match this afternoon.
Fiji scored four tries, three of which were converted with halfback Terio Tamani scoring a double for a comfortable 26-0 lead at halftime.
Niue improved their defence in the second half and a bit of discipline in their attack as they scored 1 try with Fiji only scoring three converted tries for the fulltime score.
Fiji will take on New Zealand at 9.42pm in their second pool game tonight.
They will then take on Oceania at 3.12pm tomorrow and will wrap up their pool games against Australia at 6.52pm tomorrow.
The Men’s placing finals will kick off at 3.28pm Sunday with the final kicking off at 5.18pm Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side also scored a huge 50-0 win over the Cook Islands in their first match this afternoon.
The Fijiana side will take on Tonga at 7.08 tonight in their second pool match before taking on American Samoa in their last pool match at 4.18pm tomorrow.
The Women’s cup semi final will kick off at 2.44pm Sunday and the cup final will be at 6.24pm Sunday.
